Alkalinity Supplements

Alkalinity is the most important essential element in your marine aquarium, not only is it a critical component of the buffering system that helps maintain a stable pH, it is also an integral element allowing coral to build calcium carbonate skeletons.  We recommend keeping alkalinity between 8 - 9 dKH but a wider range of 8-12 dKH can be acceptable.  Stability of alkalinity is a must!  We do not recommend letting your alkalinity change by more than 0.2 - 0.3 dKH per day.  To ensure a stable alkalinity we recommend daily testing and regular dosing to maintain a thriving reef aquarium.
